We operate as a higher education presidents’ coalition guided by a mission to further community prosperity by generating both commitment and access to civic engagement initiatives.
NJCC plays a crucial role in bringing colleges and universities from all sectors together with community service agencies, schools, government, business and nonprofit sectors to advance the cause of locally driven and sustainable solutions for the Garden State.
Our coalition harnesses our communities’ assets to address large scale issues as determined by communities themselves —everything from inclusive educational access and success, poverty and substance abuse prevention, health improvement, food insecurity and economic opportunity.
Our best investments are in tomorrow’s leaders and, through sequences of experiential opportunities, students become the innovators and changebuilders of tomorrow that have the transferrable 21st century skills to bring into both workplace culture and community life. This is invaluable in our efforts to dramatically increase outcome-based volunteerism statewide, thereby resulting in an educated and engaged democracy, and in prosperous and cohesive communities.
